Stabbing Suspect Is Cuffed

Pinched A Year Later For Glendale Assault

After a year of eluding law enforcement, the suspect behind the brutal stabbing of a 52-year-old woman inside a Glendale home was collared by the 104th Precinct Detective Squad last Thursday, Apr. 18, it was reported.

Jose L. Rodriguez, 63, was taken into custody by Det. Jay Houlihan of the 104th Precinct Detective Squad on attempted murder charges for the Apr. 19, 2012 stabbing.

Prior to arraignment, however, Rodriguez was subsequently taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center for treatment of a host of ongoing medical issues, according to police.

Reportedly, the stabbing occurred at around 12:30 p.m. on the afternoon of Apr. 19, 2012 inside a home on 59th Street near Cooper Avenue in the Liberty Park section of Glendale.

According to police sources, Rodriguez and the woman became involved in a verbal dispute. Moments later, authorities said, the suspect allegedly stabbed the woman repeatedly in the torso, arms, neck and face.

Shortly after knifing the woman, Rodriguez fled from the scene in an unknown direction, police noted.

Officers from the 104th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. The woman was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of her wounds; she has since recovered.

Rodriguez was charged last Thursday following questioning with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon, authorities said.
