Police arrest two burglary suspects in Whitestone

WHITESTONE — Two suspects in multiple burglaries throughout northern Queens were nabbed last week, according to police sources.

On Tuesday at about 4 p.m., a man in a ski mask attempted to break into the rear kitchen window of an elderly woman’s 160th Street home using a crowbar, according to the 109th Precinct Community Council.

After the man was spotted, a home health aide to the woman called a family member, who then called police, sources said.

Although the man fled, cops created a perimeter of the area and eventually took him into custody after he was seen walking two blocks away holding the crowbar, the council and police said. He was later identified as a Bayshore, L. I. man, according to the council, while his Bayside girlfriend was arrested and charged as an accomplice, according to the council.

Cops urged the public to call 911 when observing any suspicious behavior.
