Man holds up LIC livery cabbie at gunpoint: Cops

LONG ISLAND CITY — The NYPD is trying to find a suspect who allegedly robbed a cab driver at gunpoint in Long Island City, police said..

At about 4:30 p.m. Saturday, a 52-year-old livery cab driver picked up a gun-toting man in front of a grocery store near 40th Avenue and 9th Street, cops said.

While heading to the destination, the suspect allegedly pulled out a black gun and said he was robbing the driver, who pulled the car over at 45th Avenue and Vernon Boulevard and handed over his bank card to the suspect, according to police

The suspect, who is described as 5-foot-7 and 170 pounds, then fled on foot heading north on Vernon Boulevard, the NYPD said. He was seen wearing a baseball cap and white tank top shirt, police said.

No one was injured in the incident, according to cops.
