Police were hunting for a Bronx man suspected of restraining and beating his ex-wife for hours in Maspeth before allegedly swiping money and phones, the 104th Precinct’s commander said.
On June 30 at 3:15 p.m., police believe 38-year-old Edmund Manuel allegedly broke into his former spouse’s Maspeth home on 57th Drive, said Capt. Christopher Manson, the new head of the 104th.
Manuel then allegedly tied up his ex with duct tape and severely beat her for several hours, Manson said. The woman was in and out of consciousness, and by the time she awoke, her attacker had allegedly fled, Manson said.
Manuel is also suspected of stealing cash and phones from the house, as well as the victim’s car, the 104th commander said.
Manuel was described by police as a 150-pound Asian man with black hair and brown eyes. His last known address was 2414 Bathgate Ave. in the Bronx, authorities said.
Manuel was at the top of the precinct’s manhunt list, Manson said.
