Cops arrest 19-year-old in fatal Corona hit-and-run

By Phil Corso

Police cuffed a 19-year-old from Elmhurst Monday, charging him with leaving the scene of a fatal accident the day before, the Police Department said.

David Rojas was driving southbound on Junction Boulevard around 2:58 p.m. Sunday when he allegedly struck 79-year-old Cui Ju Yu of Corona and fled, the NYPD said. Emergency officials responded to the scene near 50th Avenue, where they found the woman unconscious and brought her to nearby Elmhurst Hospital. She was pronounced dead the following day, cops said.

A subsequent investigation led police to Rojas, who was then charged with leaving the scene of an accident, resulting in death, police said.
