Bicyclist killed in hit-and-run truck crash: Police

Authorities were looking for a white commercial truck that drove off after striking and killing a 54-year-old bicyclist in Maspeth Wednesday evening, the NYPD said.

Elmhurst resident Pedro Lopez had been attempting to ride a bike across Borden Avenue at Maurice Avenue at about 5 p.m. when he was hit, police said.

The truck had been trying to make a turn onto Borden Avenue from Maurice Avenue, according to cops.

Ermegency responders were called to the intersection, where they found Lopez, and brought him to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

An investigation was ongoing and no arrests had been made, the NYPD said.
