REGO PARK — Police were looking for two burglars who they said broke into a Rego Park pet store and stole nine parrots and bird cages worth more than $1,200 May 28.
The suspects entered the Petland Discounts store at 3:18 a.m. and removed the birds, which included a white ringneck parrot worth $700, police said.
When they canvassed the area, police said they found the birds and cages hidden in some bushes on an alleyway behind the store.
The suspects had also entered a dental office down the street from the pet store about 30 minutes earlier, but left with nothing, according to cops.
Police described both suspects as white men, 17 to 20, and between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-11.
