Will Make Public Plea For Affordable Housing
The Communities of Maspeth and Elmhurst Together (COMET) has organized a third protest against the housing of homeless families at the Pan-Am Hotel on Queens Boulevard, to be held Tuesday, July 22, the civic association announced.
This rally is aimed at advocating for more affordable housing in Elmhurst, COMET noted.
The civic association claims another shelter is not what the community needs, according to the notice.
Flyers for the rally were printed in English, Spanish and Chinese. It is scheduled to begin at 6:30, in front of the Pan-Am Hotel, located at 79-00 Queens Blvd. in Elmhurst.
COMET President Rosemarie Daraio said the protest is being organized by association members, including Jennifer Chu, a vocal opponent of the shelter.
