One hundred years of “courtesy, professionalism and respect” in Richmond Hill were celebrated at the 102nd Precinct’s centennial last Thursday, Aug. 21, at its Richmond Hill headquarters. The ceremony marked the 1914 opening of the precinct on 118th Street south of Jamaica Avenue, which serves Kew Gardens, Richmond Hill and Woodhaven and a portion of Ozone Park north of 103rd Avenue. During the ceremony, the NYPD brought its Pipe and Drum Corps to perform and put on display vintage patrol cars. Queens Borough President Melinda Katz presented a citation marking the occasion to Deputy Inspector Henry Sautner, the 102nd Precinct’s commander. Katz and Sautner are among those pictured with both active and retired officers and community activists.
