Hollis Library to close temporarily Friday

HOLLIS- Hollis Public Library will close this Friday after business hours for a makeover until sometime in October.

According to a Queens Library spokeswoman, the Hollis branch will be getting a much-needed new roof.

While the work is being done after the Aug. 15 closing, Queens Library will set up a mobile library with limited service every Monday from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

During the temporary closing, Hollis residents can visit other library branches. The closest locations are in Queens Village, at 94-11 217 St., and in Hillcrest, at 187-05 Union Turnpike.

The spokeswoman said the new roof installation is possible because of funding secured by City Councilman Mark Weprin (D-Oakland Gardens).
