The U.S. Department of Justice has set aside $900,000 for a grant to combat domestic violence in Queens, the borough’s top prosecutor announced.

The grant, which Borough President Melinda Katz pushed for, will go toward strengthening Queens District Attorney Richard Brown’s efforts to snuff out domestic abuse and hold offenders accountable.

“This grant will go a long way toward sustaining and furthering our initiative to combat domestic violence in Queens County,” Katz said. “Our efforts have already seen great success, thanks to the dedication of District Attorney Brown and his office and the hard work of our partners in our multifaceted approach toward addressing domestic violence.”
