Students at Bayside High School got a quick break from classes Wednesday morning after a small fire prompted a school-wide evacuation.

The fire was reported shortly before 9:45 a.m. and was almost immediately controlled by authorities, with teens filing back into the school about 15 minutes later. No injuries were reported.

FDNY sources at the scene told The Courier the sparks were ignited in a garbage can and students reported that they heard the can was located inside a girls’ locker room.

The fire is under investigation.
