The LaGuardia Community College (LAGCC) Lady Red Hawks came out firing on all cylinders as they put an 88-41 drubbing on the Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) Bulldogs on Saturday, Dec. 19.

Their 47-point victory was the largest in school history, breaking the previous record which was set on Nov. 15 in a win over Dutchess.

The Lady Red Hawks were on fire early, going 4-of-5 on three-pointers in the first quarter, and 11-for-16 overall. Lexis Valentin contributed 13 first-half points and finished with 22 as she set a new school record for three-pointers in a single game with six, while the team went an impressive 11-for-24 from three-point range.

Janae Gibson posted a career-high 13 points in the victory and Kailyn Richburg added 15 points. Briana Johnson and Sarah Edwards also had double-digit point totals with 12 points each.

LAGCC moves to 9-2 overall while remaining at 7-1 in the Region and 5-0 in CUNY Athletic Conference. Bunker Hill falls to 1-12 on the season with the loss.

The Lady Red Hawks will have time to enjoy their record breaking victory over the holiday break before their next game against Gateway Community College at home on Jan. 3, 2016. This will be the first time the schools faceoff in their histories.
