Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a group of suspects who attempted to rob a 99 Cents store in Astoria last month but left empty handed.
On Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 2:05 p.m. the suspects— who can be seen in surveillance photos released by police— distracted a clerk at the 99 Cents store located at 35-10 30th Ave. During this time a female suspect crawled under the counter and attempted to remove the safe, authorities said.
The woman was unsuccessful and all the suspects then fled the scene empty handed.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800 577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto Crime Stoppers’ website or by texting their tips to CRIMES (274637), then enter TIP577. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
