Subway service changes to affect 15 lines this weekend

Construction work to upgrade and maintain stations, tracks and signal systems is affecting weekend service on many of the City’s subway lines. The MTA is advising customers to allow for extra travel time if they rely on any of these trains.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, January 29 to 5 a.m. Monday, February 1, South Ferry-bound 1 trains run express from 14 St to Chambers St.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, January 29 to 6:30 a.m. Sunday, January 31, and from 6:30 a.m. Sunday, January 31 to Monday, February 1, Flatbush Av-Brooklyn College bound 2 trains run express from 14 St to Chambers St.

From 10 p.m. Saturday, January 30 to 10 a.m. Sunday, January 31,uptown 2 trains run local from Times Sq-42 St to 96 St.

At all times until Winter 2015/16 3 trains skip Rockaway Av and Van Siclen Av in both directions. Use free shuttle buses instead.

For service to/from Rockaway Av, use shuttle buses to/from the Saratoga Av station at all times. B60 customers can transfer to/from shuttle buses at Rockaway Av.
For service to/from Van Siclen Av, use shuttle buses to/from the Pennsylvania Av station at all times.
Free transfer is available with MetroCard.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, January 29 to 5 a.m. Monday, February 1, 3 service operates to/from New Lots Av all weekend, replacing the 4 in Brooklyn. 3 trains will run express in Manhattan.

From 10 p.m. Saturday, January 30 to 10 a.m. Sunday, January 31, Harlem-138 St bound 3 trains run local from Times Sq-42 St to 96 St.

At all times until Winter 2015/16 4 trains skip Rockaway Av and Van Siclen Av in both directions.

Until Spring 2016 Pelham Bay-Park bound 6 trains skip 103 St. Use the nearby 96 St or 110 St stations instead.

For service to this station, take the uptown 4 or 6 to 125 St and transfer to a downtown 4 local or 6. Or, take an uptown 4 local or 6 to 110 St and transfer to a downtown M101 Local, M102, or M103 bus.
For service from this station, take a downtown 4 or 6 train to 96 St and transfer to an uptown 4 or 6. Or, take an M101, M102, or M103 bus to 96 St and transfer to an uptown 4 or 6 train.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday, January 29 to 5 a.m. Monday, February 1, 4 trains are suspended in both directions between Crown Hts-Utica Ave/New Lots Ave and Bowling Green. Take the 2 or 3 instead. Transfer between 4 and 2 or 3 trains at Fulton St.

Until Spring 2016 Pelham Bay-Park bound 6 trains skip 103 St. Use the nearby 96 St or 110 St stations instead.

Between Rockaway Blvd and Far Rockaway, every 20 minutes.

Free shuttle buses operate between Hewes St and Essex St, stopping at Marcy Av. For direct service between Brooklyn and Manhattan, consider using the A, C or L via free transfer at Broadway Junction.

From 6 a.m. to 12 Midnight Saturday, January 30 and Sunday, January 31, M trains are suspended in both directions between Myrtle Av and Essex St. M service operates between Metropolitan Av and Myrtle Av all weekend. Take the J, L and/or free shuttle buses instead. Free shuttle buses provide alternate service between Hewes St and Essex St, stopping at Marcy Av. For direct service to/from Manhattan, use the L via transfer at Myrtle-Wyckoff Avs.

At all times until Winter 2016, L trains skip Atlantic Av in both directions. For service to/from this station, use free shuttle buses to/from the Broadway Junction station at all times.

At all times until Spring 2017, Astoria-Ditmars Blvd bound N trains skip 86 St, Avenue U, Kings Hwy, 20 Av, 18 Av, New Utrecht Av, and Fort Hamilton Pkwy. N trains will stop at Bay Pkwy and 8 Av.

To 86 St, Avenue U, and Kings Hwy, take the Astoria-bound N to Bay Pkwy and transfer to a Coney Island-bound N.
To 20 Av, 18 Av, New Utrecht Av, and Fort Hamilton Pkwy, take the Astoria-bound N to 8 Av and transfer to a Coney Island-bound N.
From these stations, take a Coney Island-bound N to Bay Pkwy or Stillwell Av and transfer to an Astoria-bound N.
For New Utrecht Av-62 St, take the D instead. Transfer to an Astoria-bound N train at 36 St.

From 11:30 p.m. Friday, January 29 to 5 a.m. Monday, February 1, Q trains are suspended in both directions between 57 St-7 Av and Kings Hwy. Q service operates between Coney Island-Stillwell Av and Kings Hwy.

Free shuttle buses operate as follows:

Express (non-stop) between Kings Hwy and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.
Local between Kings Hwy and Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr, making all stops.
For service to Manhattan, take the D, F or N from Coney Island-Stillwell Av. For service to Coney Island-Stillwell Av, take the D, F or N at 34 St-Herald Sq or the D or N at Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr.

From 6 a.m. to 12 Midnight Saturday, January 30 and Sunday, January 31, Forest Hills-71 Av bound R trains run express from Queens Plaza to Forest Hills-71 Av.

For nearly three decades as one of the first organizations to offer community-based recycling and composting programs in New York City, Lower East Side Ecology Center has been at the forefront of helping and teaching New Yorkers how to further do their part. The Center’s electronic waste reuse and recycling program offers free, responsible disposal of working and non-working electronics to New York City residents, small businesses and non-profit organizations. They offer e-waste collection events seasonally in neighborhoods throughout the city and also accept equipment five days a week at their Gowanus E-waste Warehouse, where reusable and refurbished items are available for sale.
