The Argonauts were in control of the game against Information Technology High School from the tip off, scoring double digits in each of the first three quarters, while holding the Blackhawks to 4, 8, 0 and 7 points respectively in each quarter. “This year’s team is extremely talented and full of potential. This team is a work in progress and we are working very hard to get them to where we need them to be for a successful postseason,” said Anastasia Bitis, Argonauts head coach. “[We] still have a long way ahead of us and we are definitely not satisfied with where we are. The team has found a new sense of focus lately and we are ready for the second half of the season.”

The next game was a tougher contest for Maspeth High School as they traveled to the Martin Luther High School gym to face off against the Queens High School Complex Eagles.

The Argonauts led the whole game, taking a 24-16 lead into halftime, before adding 19 points in both the third and fourth quarters to defeat the Eagles 62-46.

Nathaniel Nickel led Maspeth High School with 16 points. Derian Puente had a double-double in the game, dropping 14 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Matthew Nickel added 10 points in the victory.

The Argonauts return home for a matchup against the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts Legends on Friday, Jan. 15. Maspeth High School defeated the Legends 67-33 in the opening game of the season on Dec. 2, 2015.
