RICHMOND HILL — Police were searching for a man who allegedly menaced a 46-year-old man on a Queens-bound E train in Richmond Hill.

At about 7:40 a.m., May 2, the victim, who was asleep on the train at the Jamaica-Van Wyck subway station, was awakened by an unknown man who smacked him on the left cheek and then produced a knife and menaced him with it, according to the police.

The suspect fled the train at the station and the victim was not injured, police said.

Officials described the suspect as a 30-year-old black man.

No arrests have been made and the investigation was ongoing, a police spokeswoman said.
