Woman found dead in holding cell

A 56-year-old woman has died after being found unconscious in her holding cell, police said.
According to police, at 8 a.m. Wednesday officers in Queens Central Booking, located at 125-01 Queens Blvd., found a 56-year-old female unconscious and unresponsive in a holding facility.

EMS transported the woman to Jamaica Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The woman was arrested and taken to the 109th Precinct station house in Flushing the day before at 1 p.m. for having an open warrant, police said. She was taken to Central Booking to await arraignment.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.

The New York Police Department Force Investigation Division is investigating the case.
