Maspeth will be featured on streaming devices everywhere as Netflix comes to the neighborhood to film scenes for their new series “Seven Seconds” on Friday, June 2.
Filming for “Seven Seconds” will take place at 57-22 66th St. between 58th and Grand avenues, starting at 1 p.m. and lasting until 7 p.m. Television crews will be meeting at the intersection of Grand Avenue and 66th Street at 6 a.m. Friday morning to prepare for the shoot. Signs will be posted in the area ahead of time.
The scene that will be shot involves a character approaching the house, turning back, walking to her car and driving away. There will also be special effects snow on the ground.
“Seven Seconds” is an American crime drama based on the 2013 Russian action film “The Major.” The show, set in Jersey City, NJ, will star Regina King as Latrice Butler.
According to IMDB, the show revolves around the growing tensions between the African American community and Caucasian cops when a teenage African American boy is critically injured by a cop.
As always, filming around the area comes with parking restrictions and this shoot is no different.
There will be no parking on:
- The full north side of Grand Avenue between Remsen Place and 55th Drive;
- The entire south side of Grand Avenue from 55th Drive to 66th Street;
- Half of both the east and west sides of 66th Street between Grand and 58th avenues; and
- three-quarters of both sides of 58th Avenue between the dead end street and Brown Place.
“Seven Seconds” will also be filming in Brooklyn on the same day.
A release date for the show has not been announced as of yet.
