Police were looking for two men who allegedly stole the car belonging to a 73-year-old man in Astoria last week. The victim was parking his 2012 Honda Accord in the vicinity of 44th Street and 25th Avenue around 9:40 a.m. Sept. 18 when a white or silver vehicle approached from behind.

The passenger exited the vehicle and approached the victim and falsely accused him of causing property damage, police said. The victim left his keys in the ignition as he got out of his car to inspect any possible damage when the individual forced the man to the ground, entered the man’s Honda and drove off followed by the second vehicle, according to the NYPD.

The victim was not seriously injured and refused medical attention at the scene, police said. The man’s Honda was found unattended five hours later near 64th Street and 37th Avenue in Woodside.

Police describe the first suspect as a black man dressed in all dark clothing, but there is no description of the driver. Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
