Police need the public’s help identifying a man wanted in connection to an attempted robbery in Corona earlier this month.
At 2:20 a.m. on July 5, police reported that a 22-year-old man was standing in front of Salon Mexico Bar & Restaurant, located at 97-15 37th Ave., when two unidentified men approached him and demanded that he give them his money and cellphone.
When the victim refused, one of the men produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest and back. The assailants left empty handed and fled on foot eastbound on 37th Street.
Officers from the 115th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. Paramedics brought the victim to Flushing Hospital, where he was treated with non-life-threatening injuries and released.
Law enforcement described the two as Hispanic men. A surveillance photo of one of the men was obtained from security cameras at the northeast corner of 98th Street and 37th Avenue before the incident.
