The New York Mets have announced “A Celebration of Queens Culture,” a groundbreaking event set for Aug. 13 and 14 at Citi Field.

This initiative marks a departure from the team’s traditional approach to heritage celebrations, offering a multi-day experience that aims to inclusively honor the borough’s diversity.

Historically, the Mets have dedicated individual nights to celebrate different heritages, but this summer’s event is designed to be a more comprehensive acknowledgment of Queens’ diverse community. The celebration will feature an array of activities, including unique culinary offerings, special music events, and more, all designed to provide fans with a taste of the more than 100 cultures represented in Queens.

The Mets are actively seeking input from fans to shape the festivities, encouraging community members to contribute ideas for the celebration. Fans can submit their ideas by clicking here or visiting https://forms.office.com/r/1emmmZ2kmb.

In addition to the Queens culture celebration, the Mets have also announced several other significant event dates throughout the season. These events include the Black Legacy Game/MLB’s Jackie Robinson Day on Apr. 15, Military Appreciation Game on May 27, Pride Night on June 28, and the Hispanic Heritage Game on Sept. 19.

The upcoming “A Celebration of Queens Culture” is poised to be a showcase of traditions and nationalities as well as an opportunity for fans to engage in an immersive experience of music and food. The Mets’ initiative reflects a growing trend in sports towards greater cultural inclusivity and community participation.

Tickets for all games, including the special celebration days, are available at the Mets’ official website https://www.mets.com/tickets.
