Two local Council Members are teaming up to host a Mother’s Day baby formula giveaway this week.

Council Members Sandra Ung (D-20) and Linda Lee (D-23) are giving away free baby formula to Flushing and Oakland Gardens residents on Friday, May 10, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Residents living in either District 20 or 23 are invited to head to Council Member Ung’s district office at 136-21 Latimer Pl., Suite 1D, and Council Member Lee’s district office at 73-03 Bell Blvd, in Oakland Gardens. Parents are limited to two 28-ounce cans of Bubs Supreme Follow-On Stage 2 Formula per family. The formula is suitable for infants aged 6-12 months and has been provided through a donation from the nonprofit organization UA3 and City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams

Council Member Ung recognizes how the cost of baby formula can be a significant burden for many families. Ung explained that the giveaway will help to alleviate some of the stress local families face. “This giveaway is not just about alleviating financial strain; it’s also a chance for us to come together and celebrate the important contributions of mothers everywhere. I hope families with small children will take advantage of this opportunity to lower their childcare costs, even if just by a small amount,” she said.

Lee echoed Ung’s views, adding that as a mother, she knows the stress associated with being a new parent. “I hope that this distribution will be able to relieve some of these difficulties as we provide families access to free baby formula, and I thank Speaker Adrienne Adams, CM Sandra Ung and UA3 for their partnership and support,” she said.
