FDNY firefighter arrested in Rosedale for allegedly choking ex-wife in front of child

An FDNY firefighter was arrested in Rosedale over the weekend for allegedly choking his wife in front of his child, sources familiar with the incident reported.

According to police sources, 47-year-old firefighter Joseph Johnson was arrested in the confines of the 105th Precinct at around 3:20 p.m. on Nov. 9.

Sources with immediate knowledge of the investigation said that Johnson allegedly had a dispute with his 36-year-old ex-wife inside her home in Rosedale.

During the purported altercation, Johnson allegedly wrapped his hands around the victim’s neck, leaving marks and causing her pain. The attack unfolded in front of their 8-year-old daughter, law enforcement sources said.

Johnson was charged with strangulation in the second degree and acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17.
