In the wake of three controversial police shootings of unarmed black men in the city, the Flushing NAACP is trying to pass the message to area minority youth to be mature and level-headed when dealing with law enforcement officials in northeast Queens.
The Flushing NAACP hosted a panel discussion on the relationship between youths and police March 16 at the Macedonia A.M.E. Church on Union Street. The idea was for the adults to take what they learned during the evening and share it with the young people in their lives.
