1 Killed At McDonalds Shooting

A gunman opened fire outside a packed Jamaica Ave. McDonalds Monday afternoon, killing one man and injuring several teenage bystanders.
Police said that Naconca Haskins of Brooklyn was killed instantly after being shot in the chest, and two young women were taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital of the Catholic Medical Center for gun wounds to their feet after a person who had been involved with a dispute with Haskins fired nine rounds of bullets on the corner of Jamaica Avenue and Parsons Boulevard in front of McDonalds.
The incident began when Haskins and his brother got into an argument with another man outside a pizza store on 149 Street and Hillside Avenue for about two hours. At about 3:20 p.m., Haskins went inside McDonalds for a bite to eat, but noticed several men chasing his brother down the block. As he tried to come to his rescue, the gunman turned and fired several shots in front of the McDonalds packed full of students from Hillcrest High School and nearby junior high and elementary schools. It is also directly in the center of a shopping hub, where mothers bring their young children.
The shots hit Haskins directly in the chest, an 18-year old girl in the right foot and a 14-year-old in the left foot. It is believed that the girls were shot accidentally.
"It was not gang-related," said police spokesman Robert Samuels. "The victim was coming to the aid of his brother, when he was shot by a person known to him. The incident likely was related to the dispute Haskins and his brother were involved in earlier that day, but the shooter has not been identified. "
Patrons of the McDonalds were shocked, but security guard George Desgraviers, 25, said a fight breaks out at that location every day. He said everyone started screaming and running for cover, and the gunman fled in a green Honda Accord.
Haskins was declared dead on arrival at Mary Immaculate Hospital, hospital spokesman Steve Phelps said. "The young man died and two girls were treated for injuries," Phelps said. "They were released Monday night."
