Residents of a quiet dead-end street in Little Neck are angry about the construction of two new homes which they describe as being out of character with the neighborhood.
A city Buildings Department audit of the construction at the corner of Beechknoll Avenue and Marathon Parkway, which is less than two blocks from Northern Boulevard, found on June 8 that work at the property was within acceptable guidelines.
But residents, who did not want to be identified, said they had been asking the Buildings Department for a review since January and gotten no response.
Community Board 11 District Manager Anne Marie Boranian said work on the property includes renovations to the existing house at 47-07 Marathon Parkway and the construction of two new homes at 249-06 Beechknoll Ave. and 249-10 Beechknoll Ave. The lot, she said, was subdivided before construction began, allowing the builder to create the new one-family homes in what used to be a yard.
