Following Brutal Bayside Murder, Korean Organization Takes In Boy

The 14-year-old boy who watched in horror as his father stabbed his mother to death in front of their Bayside home has been taken in temporarily by the Korean American Association until a proper foster care situation can be assessed.
The boy, whose name was undisclosed because he is a minor, has no other relatives in America and has nowhere to go now that his mother has died and his father is facing criminal charges, authorities said.
The stranded boy, who heard screams outside his Bayside home, looked on as his father, Young Hoon Kim, 43, fatally stabbed his mother, Jin Sun Kim, 43, in a fit of rage stemming from a history of marital troubles. Police said his father repeatedly stabbed his mother in the chest and neck and then sunk a 13-inch knife deep into his own stomach, ripping through his intestines.
Jin Sun died on arrival at North Shore University Hospital. Her husband was also taken to North Shore and is listed in serious condition, police said.
Witnesses described the scene as if it were the aftermath of a blood-ridden scene from a horror film. "Blood was strewn on the garage door, which led down to a puddle of red surrounding a single shoe," said one witness.
The couple has a long history of marital disputes. Jin Sun recently had renewed an order of protection against her husband, an order he was arrested for violating on Oct. 19.
Sources said Young Hoon had been living with his wife and son in a semi-attached brick duplex at 40-34 217 St. until last month, when he moved out following numerous disputes. Neighbors said the two appeared to be a loving couple that travelled the Long Island Railroad to work together every morning.
