Two people were hospitalized after a late night fight at a bowling alley in the Linden Hill section of Flushing in which a bowling ball was used as a weapon, police said.
Andre Pryor, 25, was rushed to Weill Cornell Medical Center and Shauna Quentin, 28, was taken to Flushing Hospital after a fight broke out at about 3:50 a.m. early Sunday morning at Whitestone Lanes, said police.
Whitestone Lanes, located at 30-05 Whitestone Expressway, sits in the Linden Hill section of Flushing bordering College Point to the east and Whitestone to the north.
Police said two men assaulted Pryor and Quentin, but they had not announced any arrests in the case of press time late Tuesday.
According to police, one of the men threw a bottle, striking Pryor and injuring his eye. The other man tossed a bowling bowl, striking Quentin in the head, said police.
As of press time Tuesday, Pryor was still at Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition, said Jan Sileo, a spokeswoman for the hospital.
Quentin was released from Flushing Hospital Sunday, said police.
Police described Quentin and Pryor as innocent victims caught in the middle of a fight between two groups of more than 15 people each, Newsday reported. Pryor was in danger of losing his eye because of the injury, the newspaper said.
Sileo would not give out information on the nature of Pryor’s injury.
Workers at Whitestone Lanes discussed the fight with each other Monday.
One employee who did not want to give his name described the lanes as generally peaceful, but conceded that the crowd can become rowdy on occasion.
“It’s been a year or two since we had a problem like this,” he said.
Whitestone Lanes is open 24 hours a day and offers its patrons dozens of lanes as well as a bar.
A bowler from Brooklyn who asked not to be identified said he makes the trip to Whitestone Lanes often.
The man said he had never seen a large fight at the lanes.
“I’ve seen many people arguing,” he added.
