Inter-County Automotive tops Graziano Ravioli

DG Major Division

Michael Lowery and Julian Cazares pitched a strong game for Inter-County Automotive as they beat a good Graziano Ravioli team, 7-2. Inter-County got off to a fast start with first-inning base hits by Julian Cazares, Michael Kern, Joey Depperman and Michael Lowery to jump out to a three-run lead. Chris Franceshini helped out with a hit and a nice catch in the outfield. Joey Anderkavich also played a good defensive game, while Nick Coppolino and John Sambucci also played a strong game for Inter-County. Playing well at shortstop for Graziano was Andrew Silvestri. Daniel Santeufeumia played a strong game at first base for Graziano in a well played game by both teams.

Pizza Chef defeated Inter-County Automotive by a score of 3-0. Pizza Chef was led to victory behind the pitching of Tommy Schreiber, with three perfect innings, followed by Jeremy Franco, with three shutout innings. Runs scored in the first inning by Adam Breidbart, Manny Alvarez and Jeremy Franco knocked in by Nick DeFalco were all the scoring Pizza Chef would need. Strong defensive play by Andrew Kovach, Robert Vetro and Sean Fitzpatrick also helped seal the victory.

DG Minor Division

In a well played game by both teams, Western Beef and Dr. Eddy Ferriera D.D.S. played to an 8-8 tie. Western Beef took a one run lead into the last inning when Dr. Ferriera scored four runs. The big hit was delivered by Joseph Biancaniello, who blasted a two-run double. Another big hit for Dr. Ferriera was by Anthony Brnjac, who hit a triple in the second inning and got on base all four times up. Steven Foley and Max Popper contributed for Dr. Ferriera by getting on base seven times combined. Anthony Gismundi continued his good hitting for Western Beef, hitting a home run and a key double in the last inning when Western Beef scored three times to tie the game. Jeffrey Johnson started the last inning off for Western Beef by singling. The inning also had contributions by Vinny Depperman and Mike Formato, both of whom singled to allow Western Beef to squeak out a tie. Tommy Regan contributed with a big hit for Western Beef and Frank Obidienzo pitched a nice inning in a game where everybody contributed.

Re/Max Universal Real Estate defeated Millco Taping, 15-5. Millco started the game strongly behind the pitching of Mario Grdovic with the score 3-2 after two innings. Re/Max broke out in the third with their best inning of the year, putting 12 runs on the board. Big hits in the inning came from Patrick Thompson with three RBIs on a bases-loaded triple, a two-run double by DJ Rooney and hits by Joe Townsend and George Theofonis. Other contributors were Patrick Berndt and Kenny Lehr, both 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and David Legaz with two hits. For Millco, both Steve Ehresman and Antonio Tiseo contributed with the bat and played well at third and first base, respectively.

DG Girls Softball

In a closely played girls softball game, Edward McKee Post #131 beat Franklin’s Printing by the score of 6-5. Franklin’s held a 3-0 lead until the third inning when the McKee girls rallied to score five runs. Nicoletta Hotzoglou, Rei Lem and Nicole Naposki all got base hits, Elena Brandes got a double and Corinne Lippert got a bases-clearing triple to bring the score to 4-3. Nicole Agnello drove in the fifth run of the inning. Franklin’s Printing came back with two more to tie the game at 5-5 after four. Edward McKee Post came back in the fifth with the winning run. Christina Agnello pitched a great game for McKee.
