Padavan’s Paragons defeated a tough Bayside Milk Farm team Saturday in a great display of talent on both sides.
Dean Vasiliou had a double, three RBIs and two stolen bases, while Ryan Berglund made an incredible game-saving catch in the outfield along with three hits, two stolen bases, one RBI and two runs scored.
Brendan Cosgrove had two hits and one run batted in and made a great diving catch from the catcher’s position.
Ryan Schwabenbauer had one hit, one run scored and two stolen bases; Frankie Madonia pitched three innings, allowing only two runs; and Domenick Kamel had two walks, a stolen base and one run scored.
Jarrett Lee had two runs and Daniel Pellegrino had three runs for Bayside Milk Farm.
Padavan’s Paragons 13, R. Klein, CPA 10.
Two great teams on one great, sunny day for a ball game set the scene for an excellent matchup with 23 runs scored. In the end, Padavan’s Paragons edged out R. Klein, CPA April 24.
Frank Madonia had two doubles and five RBIs; Brian Nargi had two hits and two RBIs; Logan Miller turned in one hit, two walks and two RBIs; and Justin Berglund added one hit, two runs scored and three stolen bases.
Rounding out the day were Anthony Palermo with two hits, three runs scored and two stolen bases and Chris Kumar with one hit.
John Frees led R. Klein, CPA, going 2-for-2 and receiving the game ball. Robert Klein went 3-for-3 and pitched two strong innings.
Major League Division
Prava Construction 18, Meric Law 6.
After playing a 12:30 p.m. game the day before, the boys from Prava came back to win on the morning of April 25.
The boys won their fourth in a row with this 18-6 win over a good Meric Law team.
The whole team contributed on offense in this game and Petros Skalinas did a good job on defense.
The pitching was a combined effort from Ryan Paccione, Nick Capone and Ryan MaGee to hold down a good Meric Law squad.
Ben Gould had a nice game for Meric Law.
Prava Construction 6, Pier 25A 1.
Kevin Will threw an outstanding game for Prava, pitching five strong innings and giving up only one run April 24.
Leo Gussak and Ryan Paccione led the offense for Prava while Nick Capone and Nicky Macchia had a good defensive game for Prava.
John Paul Kouloutourus pitched a fine game for Pier 25A.
Prava Construction 11, Printing Express 9.
The boys from Prava Construction fell behind 9-3 after two innings but never gave up in this April 21 matchup.
The pitching combination of Ryan Paccione and Tom Karcinski, who came in the third to put out the fire, did not allow any more runs after a rocky start.
The team chipped away each inning to get back into the game. The offense was led by Kevin Will, Sam Gussak and Eric Melita. The team finally caught up in the sixth inning to pull out a come-from-behind victory.
Anthony Witschel had a nice game for Printing Express.
Prava Construction 5, Biordi Construction 4.
The two rivals started off the season in a great extra-inning game as Prava pushed across a run in the bottom of the seventh to win on April 19.
Prava got some great pitching from Tom Karcinski, Ryan Paccione and Leo Gussak to hold down a good Biordi team.
Nick Palermo, Anthony Scianna and Ryan MaGee contributed to the offense for Prava. Frankie Biordi and John Aponte led the way for Biordi.
Printing Express 11, V.I. Pizza 10.
The Printing Express Panthers slipped by V.I. Pizza in seven innings.
After spotting V.I. Pizza a 2-0 lead, the Panthers came roaring back in the bottom of the first inning highlighted by Jonathan Cedeno’s two-run home run.
Terence Manfredonia pitched another solid game for the Express, leaving a tie game with two out in the fourth inning.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Joseph Randazzo, Derek Casanos and Joe Jenred put together two singles and a sacrifice to propel the Panthers to the extra-inning victory.
For the V.I. Pizza squad Tommy Monte, Ricky Sanchez and Dominic Formato were a combined 6-for-11 with two RBIs and four runs.
Headlines 11, Printing Express 10.
Headlines rallied in the bottom of the sixth, scoring four runs to squeak out the victory against a solid Printing Express team.
Headlines’ Brian Wren started the inning off with a double. The rally continued with scattered hits until, with two out, Tony Zorilla stroked the final hit that brought in the winning run.
Headlines’ Nicole Carroll had a couple of RBIs in the game and was a defensive standout behind the plate for the entire six innings.
Headlines and Fader locked in a well-played pitching duel Sunday. Fader was led by a one-hit effort from Anthony Delgiudice. Alex Chateau had two big hits and Eric Marinconz played a strong defensive game at second base.
Headlines’ pitching was helped by the excellent defense of its outfield. Michael Lavin made an outstanding running catch in right field to end a possible threat, and George Zorrilla took away a potential home run with his catch in center field.
Griffin leads RP Collectibles
Daniel Griffin hit two line-drive doubles to right field, receiving the game ball for RP Collectibles.
Bobby Campbell got a triple and filled in at third base. The team would like to thank all the parents who participated with the game for helping to make it run smoothly and for giving us a great cheering section.
PeeWee Division
Depot Furniture Ltd. played Compact Disc Jockeys Saturday. The stars of the game were John Jerome and Demetri Michael.
John caught three consecutive balls in the infield and Demetri hit two balls into the outfield. In addition the triplets, Kevin, Joseph and Giancarlo Donato, excelled at the plate and in the field.
Outback Steakhouse PeeWees cook up good baseball
Two players took center stage for the Outback Steakhouse PeeWees team Saturday. Andrew Bulieris and Nicholas Bader played the game as it was meant to be played.
Andrew proved to be an outstanding second baseman and ran the bases with blazing speed. His hustle was an example to the entire team. Andrew went 3-for-3 with three singles.
Nicholas has been swinging a hot bat this year, but Saturday proved to be his finest hour. He finished the game by blasting a home run. Nicholas also showed real sparkle in the field.
Both players received game balls for their efforts. The parents of this team have shown real cooperation and enthusiasm.
There was a good game in the PeeWee Division between Papazzio and the Outback Steakhouse team under a threatening sky Sunday.
The game was tied and went into an extra inning. Sabrina Laube and Joe Smires of the Papazzio team came through with some clutch hitting and good plays in the field.
The rest of the Papazzio team also assisted with their bats and some good fielding. It was a good day for all the players.
Clearview Paint 7, FY Lifestyle 7.
Clearview Paint and FY Lifestyle of Bayside Little League’s PeeWee Division had a battle for the ages at Crocheron Park Sunday.
Both teams displayed solid hitting and fielding in the game, which ended in a 7-7 tie.
For Clearview Paint, Nicholas Bossotti was awarded the game ball for all-around solid play. Colin McGee and James Curran were also recognized for their clutch hitting with the game on the line.
Scheiner leads Milk Farm past Sports DDS.com
Last Thursday Brandon Scheiner pitched four innings of two-hit ball as Bayside Milk Farm beat Sports DDS.com, 12-3. Patrick Magalong singled, doubled and drove in a run while Jarrett Lee was on base three times for Bayside Milk Farm. For Sports DDS.com, Michael Kowpak smacked a home run and Michael Leonard was 1-for-2 with an RBI double.
Texas Division
Ceriello 11, H & D Maintenance 1.
Ceriello came out on top against H & D Maintenance in an 11-1 victory Saturday. Great pitching and relief pitching by Thomas T. and Terrence Grogan from H & D Maintenance was evident during the game. Joseph Dinatale and John Stathopoulos hit the ball hard and drove in runs for Ceriello.
Pilling Real Estate 11, Ceriello’s 4.
In an exciting Texas game that lasted into the twilight, Pilling Real Estate defeated Ceriello’s, 11-4. For Pilling, Philip Cicciarello had two key hits and a rare outfield assist. Kyle Sandor reached base all three times and scored a run.
For Ceriello’s, Cameron Daniels had two hits and a walk and pitched brilliantly. Zachary Mellado played excellent defense while also wreaking havoc at the plate for the Pilling pitchers.
Ceriello’s 11, Pilling Real Estate 5.
Ceriello’s had its first victory with an 11-5 win over Pilling Real Estate April 9.
Pilling Real Estate’s Zachary Moran and Sean Rafferty each reached base three times during the game against Ceriello’s.
Ceriello’s Alec Sullivan was one of the hitting stars with two home runs. Chelsea Brandimarte of Ceriello’s also made an incredible catch in the outfield for the final out of the game.
Ceriello’s 12, Capital Appraisal 11.
Ceriello’s won a hard-fought battle over Capital Appraisal with a 12-11 victory as the sun went down over Valle West Field in Crocheron Park. Jake Schanee from Capital Appraisal demonstrated outstanding fielding, while Mike Chairamonte helped his team with three awesome hits during the game.
Ceriello’s Liam Higgins was impressive behind the plate and assisted his team with two hits. Vassilli Grigorakos had two incredible long ball hits, helping Cierello’s to win its second game of the season. Both teams played an incredible game and should feel proud of their efforts.
Pilling Real Estate 15, Kraft Foods 10.
In an exciting Texas slugfest, Pilling Real Estate beat Kraft Foods. For Pilling, Brandon Picarello slammed two homers while pitching and catching brilliantly. Jordan Chateau was his usual offensive juggernaut, hitting a homer and adding two hits.
For Kraft Foods, Anthony Kavolis reached base three times, and Rocco Baruzuso pitched very well while also reaching base three times.
Giglio Boys 14-9, Giglio Boys 7-2, Giglio Boys 15-9.
The Giglio Boys ran off three straight wins to begin the young season, the first in dramatic fashion. Trailing in the last of the sixth inning the Giglio Boys rallied for the victory and scored 10 runs.
Nick Saffran went 4-for-5 with a home run, and Sean Feehan hit a home run in the come-from-behind 14-9 win.
Matthew Hacker and Josh Pernick threw a combined no-hitter April 10 to run the streak to two straight and closed out the week with a 15-9 victory when Tim Ong hit the lead-off home run and walked three times, and David Montes hit a grand slam to pace the win.
