Immigrants take Oath of Allegiance

The Immigration and Naturalization Service hosted Citizenship Day on Monday, September 18 to welcome 50 immigrants to America at the Flushing Town Hall. The new Americans most important moment came when they took the Oath of Allegiance, vowing to renounce any allegiance to a foreign government and promising to support America. The ceremony included people from 25 nations, with the most new Americans, eight, hailing from the People's Republic of China. Four people each were naturalized from India and Colombia. On hand to lead the new citizens in the Pledge of Allegiance was Joseph Cassidy, Deputy Inspector of NYPD Community Affairs.
