With the plethora of car dealerships in Queens today, competition is often fierce. Few dealerships, however, can challenge the rich tradition of DiBlasi Ford. A long time member of the Queens community, DiBlasi Ford has established a niche of its own with Ford consumers.
A third generation family-owned business, DiBlasi Ford has served Queens for over 70 years. In addition to new Ford cars and trucks, they also sell used vehicles of all models. Rated number one in customer satisfaction, DiBlasi Ford is the only authorized Mustang, Focus and Lightning SVT dealer in New York City.
&#8220I like cars and I like people,” Tom DiBlasi, owner of DiBlasi Ford, says. What sets DiBlasi Ford apart from other dealerships is the personal service they provide. &#8220The one-on-one contact we have with our customers is something unique and important to our business,” DiBlasi said. He shares the responsibilities as owner with his cousin Robert DiBlasi.
Unlike other dealerships, DiBlasi Ford claims to make the task of buying a car an easy process and they make sure of it. A wide variety of cars are on display both inside and outside their show room. As a Ford distributor, however, they pay special attention to Ford cars and trucks. Customers are greeted and assisted by the customer-oriented staff to find the vehicle best suited for their needs. DiBlasi himself enjoys interacting with the customers. &#8220My desk is not hidden away in another building somewhere,” he says. &#8220I am on the floor with everybody else to help the customer.”
As a member of the Better Business Bureau, DiBlasi Ford participates in the Membership Identification Program. With this membership, they have shown commitment to ethical business practices. As part of the program, DiBlasi Ford agrees to use special procedures consisting of mediation and arbitration to resolve complaints.
&#8220I started coming to the dealership with my father when I was five years old to play. I'm 53 now and somewhere in between it became work,” DiBlasi said. Tom's grandfather, Joseph DiBlasi, started the family business in the 1920's. He had a wealth of experience in the automotive industry but wanted to fulfill his dream of one day owning his own business. It was a successful auto dealership as it was one of the first few to be established in Queens. In 1934, however, DiBlasi made a decision that would benefit him and the business for the rest of its life. He decided to become a Ford distributor.
With hundreds of new and pre-owned vehicles, DiBlasi Ford promises to meet the needs of the customer. They are the only Ford performance dealer in New York City and Long Island selling modified Ford Mustangs such as Shelby, Roush and Saleen models. They also have one of the largest parts departments in the area. &#8220There is a lot of competition,” DiBlasi says, &#8220but the car business is all I know so the competition doesn't bother me.”
