Dion Barnes, 19, of St. Albans, was arraigned Jan. 20 and released, Brown's spokesman said. According to court documents provided by Brown's spokesman, Barnes admitted to running a stop sign while traveling southbound on Mayville Street in Jamaica around 3:38 p.m. on Jan. 19. He faces up to one year jail if convicted.Barnes ran the stop sign at the intersection of Mayville and Mangin Streets, then struck a school bus occupied by mentally challenged adults that was traveling westbound on Mangin, police said.Barnes was unable to produce a license or proof of insurance, court documents show. And he was charged with failure to stop at a stop sign, Brown's spokesman said.The accident left 41-year-old Paul Donnelly with fatally injuries, police said.Donnelly was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital after the accident and was having difficulty breathing, police said. A spokesman for the city medical examiner described the cause of Donnelly's death as “blunt trauma of torso.”The death was ruled an accident, the spokeswoman said.Police reported at 8:45 p.m., about five hours after the accident, that Donnelly had died.A police spokesman said Friday that Donnelly's address was not available.Barnes was driving a 1990 Acura with a 23-year-old male passenger at the time of the accident, police said. Both Barnes and the passenger were taken to North Shore LIJ with neck and back injuries.Five of the 33 passengers on the bus were also taken to the hospital, including Donnelly.
