Two teenagers — one of whom is a choirboy — who snuck out to attend a party were hit by stray bullets on Saturday, August 4.
According to reports, Eric Turner, 14, and Sean Andrews, 15, were outside a Lakewood Avenue home at about 3:30 a.m. when an unidentified gunman opened fire with a .45-caliber handgun.
Turner, a sophomore at Francis Lewis High School who sings in the choir at the Second Baptist Church in Harlem, had been forbidden from attending the gathering by his mother, Regore Turner, 36.
Despite this, he and Andrews went to the party.
Turner was hit and is listed in stable condition at Mary Immaculate Hospital. Andrews, shot on the left side, was severely injured and listed in critical condition at Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
Police are currently investigating the incident. No arrests have been made.
Bus Driver Quarrels With Passenger
A bus driver and one of his passengers have been arrested following a physical altercation on the bus on Friday, August 3.
According to police, the incident occurred aboard the Q43, at Hillside Avenue and 164th Street. Both the driver, Larry Woods, 44, and the rider, Christian Custis, 22, were taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital, where they were treated and released.
Woods is charged with assault, harassment and criminal possession of a weapon. Custis has been charged with assault and harassment.
