Two-alarm blaze engulfs home

More than 100 firefighters — over 25 units — responded to a two-alarm blaze in this two-story wood frame house located at 88-16 179th Place in Jamaica on Friday, November 16. According to the Fire Department, the first 9-1-1 call came in at 11:01 a.m.; by 12:06 p.m. the fire was declared under control. Five firefighters sustained minor injuries battling the inferno. They were taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital.
