Citizenship assistance event for immigrants

State Senator Serphin Maltese and the City University of New York (CUNY) Citizenship and Immigration Project are sponsoring a Citizenship Application Assistance Day to help permanent residents with their citizenship applications.
The event, which is open to everyone, will be held on Saturday, January 12 from 11 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Greater Ridgewood Youth Council, which is located at 62-10 Myrtle Avenue in Glendale. Both English- and Spanish-language assistance will be provided.
In order to be eligible, attendants must:

  • Have resided in the United States as a permanent resident for five years (or for three years if married to, and living with, a U.S. citizen),
  • Have been physically present in the United States for half of the five- (or three-) year period,
  • Be at least 18 years old and
  • Be able to pay the $675 filing fee required by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service.
    Applicants must have with them their green card; all passports since obtaining a green card; social security/selective service card; marriage/divorce history; dates of birth of any children; all previous home addresses; employment history and criminal history (if applicable).
    The mission of the CUNY Citizenship and Immigration Project is to provide free, high quality and confidential citizenship and immigration law services to help immigrants on their path to U.S. citizenship.
