Edy Toussaint, Benjamin Cardozo

Sport: Basketball
Year: Senior

In his second year at Cardozo, Toussaint is finally finding his groove. The undersized 6-foot-3 power forward put forth one of his finer performances Tuesday afternoon, leading the Judges to a 77-66 win over Thomas Edison with 19 points and 10 rebounds. It was his latest stellar outing.

Over the weekend, he had 23 points to help the Judges take home second-place honors in the SNY Invitational despite needing stitches for a cut lip. In 16 league games, he is averaging 13.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game as Cardozo have won eight of their last nine divisional games.

“Edy’s playing really, really well,” Cardozo Coach Ron Naclerio said. “I love the kid. He’s such a nice kid. He wants to do well so much. He’s a warrior. I think he just wants to go out with a bang.”

Queens College, Adelphi College and New York Tech have expressed interest, but Toussaint, a Cambria Heights native, may go to junior college first to see if he can elevate his play to gain a Division I scholarship.
