Far Rockaway Rash of Shootings

Brandon Bethea, 15, was shot and killed outside the Redfern Houses project as she was leaving a party her boyfriend threw this past weekend. Police say that the dancer and student at I.S. 53 was an innocent bystander.
Just hours later, unrelated shooting rang out four blocks away, at Beach 21st Street and Mott Avenue. Five people were hit; all were taken to hospitals with non life-threatening injuries. Six people were arrested in connection with the second incident, and a gun was recovered.
