Honoring nonagenarian

Senate Majority Leader Malcolm A. Smith honored St. Albans resident Mary Adams on her 90th birthday.
She has been a resident of St. Albans since the early 1950s. Adams raised four biological children and four foster children, but was known as “mother” to many.
“I have encountered dozens of people that call Mary Adams mother. She has truly been a blessing to so many people nurturing them from childhood to adulthood. Through hard work and dedication she has done a tremendous service to my district,” said Smith.
A proclamation was hand delivered to Adams on behalf of Senator Smith. He first met Adams when she attended his luncheon during Senior Appreciation Week.
“Mrs. Adams is a vibrant woman that is able to move around just as well if not better then someone half her age. I was in awe when I met her back in September and found out that she was 89 years old,” said Smith.
Adams was born January 31, 1919.
“To have lived this long and to be in good physical and mental health is really a blessing. She’s truly an inspiration to us all and deserves to be recognized,” concluded Smith.
