Teen throws coconut, vows to cut driver: DA

OZONE PARK — An Ozone Park teen was charged last Thursday with allegedly throwing a coconut at a motorist’s car and threatening to cut his neck off with a kitchen knife, a spokeswoman for the Queens district attorney’s office said Tuesday.

The 16−year−old was driving by the intersection of Lefferts Boulevard and Sutter Avenue in Ozone Park when he got out of his car and threw the coconut at another man’s vehicle at 1:01 a.m. June 4, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Queens DA’s office.

After the coconut damaged the car’s front bumper, the teen allegedly approached the motorist with a kitchen knife and threatened to cut the man’s neck off, according to the complaint.

The teen was arraigned June 4 on charges of menacing, criminal mischief, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment before Judge Gerald Sullivan, who released the youth on his own recognizance, the spokeswoman said.

His next court date was scheduled for July 2.
