A 29-year old woman was raped in a wooded area near Forest Park last week, police said.
The woman, whose identity was not released, was walking at around 2:55 a.m. Sept. 24 when a man forced her into a wooded area and raped her, police said.
The suspect was described as a black man wearing dark clothing and a bandana, police said.
A neighbor of the victim said nobody on the block was aware that the rape had occurred.
“Obviously she didn’t scream out … so nobody was aware that anything happened,” the neighbor said.
The neighbor criticized police over what she contended was not enough publicity about the case.
“Obviously the police have a description of the rapist, so why not put it out there?” she asked.
The neighbor said she was given a more complete description of the attacker from police — that he was a black man, about 6-foot-4-inches with cornrows and a goatee.
She said police also told her the rapist “apologized to [the victim] before raping her.”
Police said there have been no arrests in the case as of Monday.
