Man wins frozen treats for a year

Queens Village resident Franklyn Gutierrez won the jackpot (or ice cream pot) with Häagen-Dazs’ scratch-and-win autumn promotion. One of 12 winners from across the U.S., his prize is a free ticket to as many Dazzler frozen desserts as he wants for an entire year.

“Americans have craved the Dazzler since we put it on the menu more than a decade ago and these lucky 12 winners now have a free pass to enjoy it for the entire year,” said Dawn Uremovich, president of Häagen-Dazs Shops. “Seeing how much our customers enjoyed the opportunity to win through the promotion certainly reinforced with us how passionate people are for Häagen-Dazs products.”

Häagen-Dazs used the social networking site Facebook to promote its scratch-and win-giveaway by creating an application that allowed users to create and send digital Dazzlers, which come in flavors such as banana split, mint chip and rocky road, to their friends.

The promotion offered other prizes, including coupons; free individual Dazzlers and bottles of water. They gave away a total of $75,000 worth of Häagen-Dazs products.

“Distinctive, indulgent, frozen desserts like the Dazzler remain a symbol of our shops,” Uremovich stated. “We distinguish ourselves in the frozen dessert category with the best ingredients available. It’s what we’ve built our rich, stable history around.”
