McFadden’s comes to Citi Field

In what may mark the dawning of a new day in the “Iron Triangle,” the midtown Irish pub that has grown into a nationwide chain of party oases – McFadden’s Restaurant and Saloon – will open its newest location to the general public at Citi Field.

McFadden’s at Citi Field will be open year-round and will be located on 126th Street, in the northeast corner of the ballpark. It marks the first public-access establishment bordering the proposed Willets Point development.

The state-of-the-art facility will include a 200 foot island bar, outdoor patios, a large full service dining room, batting cages, in house TV and radio production and over 80 huge high-definition plasma TVs and projectors, according to a McFadden’s spokesperson.

From 1977, when Steve McFadden opened his Irish pub at 42nd Street and 2nd Avenue in Manhattan, there are now 14 locations nationwide. The menu will offer traditional Irish dishes like Shepherd’s Pie and fish and chips; pub food and diverse other selections.

At 13,000-square-feet, the Citi Field outpost will be huge, but “McFadden’s will stay true to its roots – providing patrons with tasty creations and an unpretentious party before, during, and after the games,” the spokesperson said.

In preparation for their arrival to the world-class ballpark, McFadden’s will be giving away VIP ticket packages to Mets games and other promotions at their flagship location 800 2nd Avenue every Tuesday in March.

“We are interviewing for all positions. Anyone looking to apply can do so on our web site – www.mcfaddens42.aitrk6.com – or attend one of the open call interviews held at McFadden’s on 42nd Street throughout the week,” the spokesperson said.

The web site for the new location, www.McFaddensCitiField.com, is still under construction, but lucky-feeling Met fans can sign up for a chance at a VIP ticket package.

“Steve’s mission of providing a place for family and friends to gather and celebrate good times while enjoying great food and drinks has been the key to our success,” the spokesperson said. “We’re sure we’ll be right at home in Queens – so let’s go Mets.”
