Kern Stewart, 25, of 143−24 184th St., allegedly started to punch the victim at around 12:22 p.m. March 3 in front of the Home Depot in Springfield Gardens at 132−20 Merrick Blvd., according to the criminal complaint.
When the victim put up his hands in an attempt to block the punches, Stewart allegedly hit the victim on the wrist with an ax handle, which led to the victim suffering a laceration on his left wrist, the complaint said.
Stewart was arraigned last Thursday before Queens Criminal Court Judge Stephanie Zaro on charges of assault, criminal possession of a weapon, trespass and harassment, the spokeswoman said.
Stewart was released on his own recognizance, the spokeswoman said.
