Having finished repairs on the Bronx-bound side of the Throgs Neck Bridge, the MTA will now begin refurbishing the Queens-bound ramp to the Cross Island Parkway.
Until “at least the beginning of the summer” drivers will only be able to access the exit ramp from the right lane, and the entire ramp will only be one lane during the project. Drivers should expect some traffic delays.
“Based on our work on the other ramp, we decided we could keep this ramp partly open during construction,” said MTA spokesperson Joyce Mulvaney. “But drivers have to pay attention to the fact that you can’t get to the ramp from the middle lane during the work,” she added.
Mulvaney said that the work was proceeding well, and may be finished before the start of summer (officially at 7:23 a.m. on Monday, June 21), “But certainly before the July 4 weekend.”
Additionally, the MTA will retain the single-lane configuration of the Cross Island Parkway entrance ramp to the bridge.
