A woman, believed to be homeless, found dead in the park next door to the 106th Precinct was a beloved neighborhood fixture, according to locals.
The unidentified woman, in her 50s, was apparently bludgeoned to death in Police Officer Nicholas DeMutiis Park, at 102nd Street and Liberty Avenue, where she had been staying.
Reports say that a nearby rock has been submitted for testing after a homeless man discovered the body. A medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
