JACKSON HEIGHTS — Police arrested a Jackson Heights man for allegedly possessing a fake Social Security card and for riding a bicycle on the sidewalk.
Police stopped Victor Pena, 29, of 35-14 94th St., for riding his bicycle on the sidewalk in front of 35-38 94th St. and asked him for identification, according to the Queens district attorney.
He opened his wallet and showed police his real Mexico photo identification card, but when he pulled it out of the wallet, the arresting officer saw the Social Security card, which he determined to be fraudulent because the ink was too dark, the paper was too soft in consistency and it bore the name “Juan Pena,” according to the DA.
Pena then allegedly admitted to buying the fraudulent card on Roosevelt Avenue. Pena has been charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument and bicycle operation on a sidewalk where it is prohibited.
Pena was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear again in court June 23.
