Seek Queens residents for ‘Open’ jobs

Borough President Helen Marshall, City Councilmember Peter Koo, and James Della Pace, president of Amerivents Event Staffing & Management, have announced an initiative to keep the majority of 700 concession jobs in Queens during the 2010 U.S. Open Tennis Championships in Flushing next month.

This is the first year that Amerivents is staffing the concession stands and its third year providing staff to the Open. Through this initiative, Amerivents is looking for Queens residents first to fill the following concession positions – stand managers; cashiers; cooks and line servers.

The U.S. Tennis Open runs from August 30 to September 12. The jobs are available from August 23, to cover qualifying tournaments and Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day on August 28. To be considered, individuals must register online at www.amerivents.com, click on Talent Registration and submit their personal profile.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for local residents looking for part-time employment,” Koo said. “The US Tennis Open is a great attraction and . . . I am glad that Queens residents will benefit from the employment opportunities created by this sporting event,” he continued.

“I want to thank Queens Borough President Helen Marshall and James Della Pace of Amerivents for their partnership and assistance,” Koo concluded.
