BASKETBALL PLAYOFF PREVIEW

The Benjamin Cardozo Judges will bring their 14-0 record into the first round of the playoffs where they will face the High School for Construction Red Hawks (10-4). During the regular season, senior guard Shelton Mickell led the Judges in points per game with 13.43 points and Christopher Gayot was second on the team with 12.14 points per game. Senior forward Marquis Barnett led the Judges with 12.57 rebounds a game, while sophomore Jermaine Lawrence was second on the team with 9.54 rebounds a game. Junior Ehiavekhan Eromoselle and senior John Galimi each averaged 17.85 points per game to lead the Red Hawks. In addition to tying for the team lead in points per game, Eromoselle led the Red Hawks with 12.69 rebounds per game. While the Red Hawks have the top regular season scorers of the match up, the Judges have contributions from a lot of their players.

The Forest Hills Rangers (10-4) will take on the Jamaica Beavers (10-3). During the regular season, senior Denzel Dulin led the Rangers with 14 points per game and senior Jose Torres was second with 13 points a game and also led the team with 10.92 rebounds a game. For the Beavers, senior Michael Gilliam led the team in scoring with 19.60 points per game and in rebounds per game with 7.60 per game. Senior Steven Stephenson was a close second with 19.08 points per game.

The Bayside Commodores (9-5) will be taking on The Queens High School of Teaching Tigers (10-4). Senior William Dobie led the Commodores in scoring during the regular season with 16.46 points per game and junior Uzonna Akazi led the Commodores in rebounding during the regular season with 7.23 a game. During the regular season Troy Singleton was the go to guy for the Tigers, averaging 18.79 points per game. Senior Paul Simpson led the team with 8.83 rebounds a game during the regular season.

The Long Island City Bulldogs went 13-0 on the season and will face the Campus Magnet Bull-Dogs (9-5). The Bulldogs have been led by their senior point guard Aaron Williams, who averaged 20.92 points a game. Junior Arthur Santanna led the team with 10.69 rebounds a game. For the Bull-Dogs junior Jordan Parks was their leading scorer with 15.54 points a game.
